Recently, President Li Wenyong led a delegation to visit Vietnam and Malaysia, focusing on the construction and upgrading of the "Institute of Modern Craftsmanship" for in-depth exchanges. Through the international "school-school-enterprise-enterprise" industry-education integration model, they actively supported the overseas expansion of China's automotive industry and the strategy to build a strong manufacturing nation, achieving a series of practical outcomes.

Supporting the global expansion of China's automotive industry and promoting coordinated "going global" of the industrial chain

GTVTC visited BYD's Vietnam Branch, focusing on the shortage of skilled technical talent in Vietnam's new energy vehicle sector. Both parties reached a consensus on launching "international order class" training programs and signed a cooperation agreement, effectively aligning the talent development system with the overseas staffing needs of Chinese-invested enterprises. This move marks a critical step for GTVTC in supporting the international expansion of Chinese new energy vehicle companies, exemplified by BYD, and lays a solid foundation for building a two-way international talent cultivation system.

At the GAC Group Representative Office in Hanoi, Vietnam, the "China-Vietnam Institute of Modern Craftsmanship for New Energy Vehicle School-Enterprise Cooperation Liaison Office (Hanoi)" was established and officially unveiled. This liaison office will serve as a transnational cooperation hub for collaboration between schools and enterprises, effectively enhancing the project operation and industrial integration capabilities of Chinese-invested enterprises in the local market. It will also provide a strong foundation of skilled talent and technical support for the localization of China's new energy vehicle industry chain in Vietnam, achieving the goal: "Wherever the industry expands, vocational education services will follow."

Serving the construction of a localized talent development system in Vietnam and promoting Chinese vocational education standards

During the 80th anniversary celebration of the University of Transport Technology in Vietnam, both parties successfully held a seminar on the establishment of the China-Vietnam New Energy Vehicle Training Center and reached significant consensus. This center will act as the core platform of the Institute of Modern Craftsmanship, systematically introducing China's curriculum system and certification standards for the new energy vehicle sector. It will cultivate highly skilled craftsmen in Vietnam who meet the needs of Chinese-invested enterprises, facilitating the steady export of Chinese vocational education standards. The two parties reached a preliminary consensus on jointly running academic programs in transportation fields such as rail engineering technology and road and bridge engineering technology. They clarified their shared objectives and approaches for cultivating high-quality transportation technical talent for Vietnam.

Meanwhile, GTVTC held in-depth discussions with Hanoi College on the quality assurance system, joint resource development, and credit recognition mechanisms for the "1+1+1" cross-border talent cultivation model. GTVTC has promoted the standardized and high-quality implementation of the "school-school-enterprise-enterprise" collaborative talent cultivation, explored pathways for developing replicable and scalable overseas talent training models, and is committed to cultivating highly skilled talent to serve the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

Expanding the ASEAN cooperation network and supporting "Belt and Road" capacity cooperation

GTVTC has extended its successful experience in building the Institute of Modern Craftsmanship to Malaysia, where, together with Guangxi Transportation Science and Technology Group, Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST), and other partners, GTVTC established and officially unveiled the "China-Malaysia Institute of Craftsmanship for Intelligent Transportation." The Institute focuses on the field of intelligent transportation and serves as a pivotal initiative for GTVTC to support the collective international expansion of China's transportation technology and equipment manufacturing sectors. This marks GTVTC's international cooperation expanding from new energy vehicles to a broader scope of transportation infrastructure, providing both human and technical resources to enhance connectivity for the infrastructure development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Previously, GTVTC signed a cooperation agreement with KLUST at the 2025 China (Guangxi)-ASEAN Conference on Vocational Education Cooperation and Development. The inauguration of the China-Malaysia Institute of Craftsmanship for Intelligent Transportation not only represents the concrete implementation of this partnership but also marks a key step in introducing GTVTC's intelligent transportation technological achievements into ASEAN applications.

This visit leveraged the deep integration of industry and education internationalization. By establishing a four-party cooperation framework among Chinese institutions, Chinese-invested enterprises, local institutions, and local enterprises, it has not only precisely supported the global expansion of China's manufacturing sector, but also fostered a healthy ecosystem for the coordinated development of vocational education and industry in ASEAN countries. This has significantly enhanced the international influence of China's vocational education.

Looking ahead, GTVTC will continue to capitalize on its distinctive strengths in transportation and its strategic location, further deepening the development of the China-ASEAN Institute of Modern Craftsmanship. It will be built into a key platform for supporting national strategies, cultivating more modern craftsmen with international perspectives and exceptional skills to contribute to the development of a strong transportation and manufacturing nation. GTVTC will offer "GTVTC's expertise" and "China's vocational education solutions" to the construction of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
