At the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Congress (Thailand Forum) and International Cooperation Summit Forum on Talent Cultivation, Qiu Shi, Vice President of Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College (GTVTC), delivered a keynote speech titled "Driving Manufacturing of Guangxi, China, Linking ASEAN’s Industrial Chains: Reform and Practice of Cross-border New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Specialty Cluster Development." Focusing on industry needs, cross-border development, and cooperation, he introduced GTVTC's achievements under the Double High-level initiative (Construction Plan of High-level Vocational Colleges and Specialties with Chinese Characteristics) in areas such as the development of its new energy vehicle technology specialty cluster, innovation in industry-education integration models, and the internationalization of standards. His speech won wide acclaim from Chinese and international guests. In addition, GTVTC signed a memorandum of understanding with a Thai college to jointly establish an Institute of Craftsmanship of New Energy Vehicle.

On April 3, the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Congress (Thailand Forum) and International Cooperation Summit Forum on Talent Cultivation was held in Bangkok. With the theme of "International Cooperation and the Internationalization of Skilled Talents," the Congress served as a high-level platform for global exchanges in new energy vehicle technology and industry-education collaboration, promoting shared technological innovation and mutually beneficial cross-border cooperation.

The Congress was hosted by the World New Energy Vehicle Development Organization, the China Society of Automotive Engineers, and the National Steering Committee of Teaching for Automobile Vocational Education, and organized by GTVTC, Nanjing Vocational Institute of Transport Technology, and other institutions. Wan Gang, Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, and Yodsapol Venukosess, Secretary-General of the Office of the Vocational Education Commission of Thailand's Ministry of Education, were among the guests who attended the event and delivered speeches. More than 300 representatives from the education and industry sectors of China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other countries gathered to discuss coordinated technological innovation and joint talent cultivation. As a major organizer of the Congress, GTVTC was deeply involved throughout the event and provided strong support for its successful convening.

The Congress featured the launch ceremony for the New Energy Vehicles Consortium for Joint Cultivation of High-Skilled Talents for Countries and Regions Along the Belt and Road, with GTVTC becoming one of the first member units.

During the signing of key cooperation projects, GTVTC officially signed a memorandum of understanding with Nonthaburi Technical College in Thailand to jointly establish the China-Thailand Institute of Craftsmanship of New Energy Vehicle. This is GTVTC's fourth overseas Institute of Craftsmanship in ASEAN, following those in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. It will further help build an innovation hub for open cooperation in vocational education facing ASEAN and strengthen GTVTC's vocational education cooperation network with ASEAN countries.

The successful convening of the Congress marks another important step by GTVTC in serving the national Belt and Road Initiative and promoting the global development of vocational education. During the exchange visit, the GTVTC delegation visited enterprises and institutions such as BYD AUTO (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Nonthaburi Technical College, and Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok, signed several cooperation agreements, unveiled two overseas cooperation centers, and successfully completed the visit with fruitful results.
